15 Best Wedding Venues on Maryland's Eastern Shore (2026 Guide)

Maryland's Eastern Shore is the state's destination wedding market, and it behaves like one. Couples come from Washington, Baltimore, Philadelphia, and New York for a weekend rather than a day, guest lodging is a bigger line item than it is anywhere else in Maryland, and the best properties are inns and estates that expect to host you for three nights rather than six hours.

The geography matters. St. Michaels and Easton anchor Talbot County and hold the highest concentration of polished, expensive inventory. Oxford and Tilghman Island are smaller, quieter, and further out on the water. Chestertown and Rock Hall sit up in Kent County, an hour north, with a distinctly different feel: older, less resort, more genuinely rural. Cambridge and the Dorchester side are cheaper and less discovered.

Quick context on Eastern Shore pricing

Only 4 of the 20 Eastern Shore venues in our catalog publish a usable starting package, which is the lowest publication rate of any Maryland region and is itself informative. This is a market where the properties expect a conversation, and a lot of them are quoting weekend buyouts rather than a rental fee, which does not reduce to a single number well.

The published figures we did find span an enormous range, from $4,500 to $7,000 at a Ridgely barn to $19,995 for an all-inclusive weekend in Rock Hall. Statewide, Maryland's median published venue package is $4,500. Assume the Shore's real median sits above that, and assume that a luxury Shore weekend with lodging is a $30,000-plus venue-and-accommodation decision before you have hired a photographer.

St. Michaels and Talbot County

1. Inn at Perry Cabin

The Eastern Shore's flagship property: a luxury waterfront resort on the Miles River with ceremony and reception spaces, on-site catering, and 78 guest rooms. If you have seen a photograph of a St. Michaels wedding, there is a good chance it was taken here. It is the most expensive address on the Shore and the one that most reliably delivers the thing people picture.

2. Tidewater Inn

A historic hotel on East Dover Street in downtown Easton, and the classic Eastern Shore town wedding. The appeal is that everything is walkable: ceremony, reception, guest rooms, and the restaurants and galleries of Easton all within a few blocks, which removes the shuttle problem that plagues rural Shore weddings.

3. Magnolia Manor

A historic waterfront manor house in Easton with gardens and outdoor ceremony options, hosting 50 to 200 in a full-access rental. It is the middle ground between the resort properties and the farm venues: genuinely elegant, genuinely private, and yours for the day rather than shared with hotel guests.

4. Miles River Yacht Club

A waterfront club in St. Michaels with a clubhouse, restaurant, and pool, hosting weddings and private events on the Miles River. Club venues on the Shore tend to be better value than the resorts for comparable water frontage, with the tradeoff that availability is tighter and membership sponsorship may be required.

5. St. Michaels Harbour Inn, Marina and Spa

A waterfront hotel and marina at the head of the harbor with event space, lodging, and a spa on site. It is the practical St. Michaels option: less rarefied than Perry Cabin, right in town, and it handles a full wedding party's lodging without a shuttle.

Oxford and Tilghman Island

6. Wylder Hotel Tilghman Island

A waterfront boutique hotel on Tilghman with Chesapeake ceremony and reception space for 30 to 250 and on-site lodging. Tilghman is a working watermen's island at the end of a road, and the drive out is part of the experience. This is the most design-forward property on that side.

7. Black Walnut Point Inn

A waterfront bed and breakfast at the southern tip of Tilghman Island, on a private point surrounded by water on three sides, with capacity from 2 to 300 and flexible weekend packages. Published pricing runs from $500 to $120,000, which reflects the difference between an elopement and a full weekend buyout of the property rather than any single wedding.

8. Sandaway Suites and Beach

A Chesapeake Bay boutique hotel in Oxford with waterfront event space and a private beach. Oxford is the quietest of the Talbot County towns, reachable by the Oxford-Bellevue Ferry from the St. Michaels side, and a wedding here feels genuinely removed in a way that St. Michaels in July does not.

9. The Tilghman Island Inn

A 20-room luxury waterfront inn with dockside ceremonies and in-house wedding planning. The combination of small scale, real planning support, and water on all sides makes it a strong pick for a 60 to 100 guest wedding where you want the whole property.

10. Oxford Community Center

The value option in Talbot County: a restored historic community building in Oxford with an auditorium, classrooms, and a full commercial kitchen. There are no wedding packages, which means you are building the day yourself, and the savings against a resort property are substantial.

Chestertown, Rock Hall, and Kent County

11. Inn at Huntingfield Creek

A 70-acre property in Rock Hall with barn, garden, pond, and dock ceremony spaces plus on-site cottages, published at $19,995 for an all-inclusive weekend package. That number covers a great deal, and for couples comparing it against the piecemeal cost of a rental venue plus lodging plus catering, it is often closer than it first looks.

12. Brittland Manor

A historic hilltop mansion above the Chester River with curated gardens, long views, and more than 500 acres of secluded countryside around it, published at $8,500 for up to 50 guests. Its sister property, Stepne Manor, is a seventeenth-century estate in downtown Chestertown for couples who want walkable heritage instead of isolation.

13. Piney Grove

An eighteenth-century waterfront estate outside Chestertown hosting 40 to 100, with indoor and outdoor space, on-site lodging, and a private riverside setting. Kent County's best mid-size historic property, and considerably easier to book than the Talbot County equivalents.

14. Inn at Haven Harbour

A waterfront wedding and event property in Rock Hall with indoor and outdoor space, overnight lodging, and beach and boat access, with a very wide capacity range from small ceremonies up to 300. Published pricing runs $250 to $10,000, spanning everything from a simple ceremony to a full event.

15. Osprey Point Inn

A waterfront inn, restaurant, and marina in Rock Hall with a white gazebo for ceremonies and tented waterfront-lawn receptions, plus lodging and in-house catering. Rock Hall generally runs less expensive than Talbot County for equivalent water, and Osprey Point is the clearest illustration of that.

Cambridge, Dorchester, and inland

The Dorchester side is the Shore's value tier. The Phillips Packing House in Cambridge is a restored industrial venue with a large light-filled atrium holding up to 530, which is the biggest room on the Shore by a distance and the only real option for a 300-plus guest list. Swan Cove Manor outside Cambridge is a private waterfront estate with multiple houses, docks, and pools, built for multi-day celebrations. Inland, Cow Barn Events in Ridgely is a rustic barn and farm venue published at $4,500 to $7,000, and Breckenridge Barn in Vienna is a modern conditioned barn for 100 to 250, published at $5,000 to $15,500. The Anchorage in Trappe is a waterfront bed and breakfast with a pavilion for intimate weddings on the Choptank.

Planning an Eastern Shore wedding

Three things separate a Shore wedding from a Baltimore one.

Lodging is your problem, not the hotel block's. Outside Easton and St. Michaels there simply are not enough rooms. Chestertown, Rock Hall, Oxford, and Tilghman each have a handful of inns and a supply of vacation rentals, and 100 guests will exhaust them. Sort lodging before you sign a venue contract, not after.

The drive is longer than the map suggests. The Bay Bridge is the only crossing from the western shore, and on summer Friday afternoons it backs up for miles. Guests coming from Washington or Baltimore for a July wedding should be told to leave early or come the day before, and you should not schedule a 4pm Friday rehearsal dinner in St. Michaels.

September and October are the sweet spot. Summer is peak tourist season, which means peak lodging rates and Bay Bridge traffic, and it is also peak humidity and peak biting insects on the marshy parts of the Shore. Late September through October gives you better weather, emptier towns, and blue crab at its best price. What to ask on the tour

Ask about the tent: who owns it, what wind rating it carries, and whether the price you were quoted includes it. Ask about the mosquito and greenhead-fly plan for anything between June and September. Ask what the venue's guest-lodging capacity actually is and what they recommend for the overflow. And ask about vendor travel: many Baltimore and Washington caterers, florists, and photographers charge a Shore travel fee, and some will not cross the bridge at all.
